Whitlingham Lake Open Water swim 1

A Hadleigh Dolphins team entered the open water swim at Whitlingham, Norfolk, which took place in sunshine and storms.

Head coach Alex Deal swam in the 3k event in a time of 58.49. This was followed by three swimmers making their debut in the 800m, Violet Salway (time 19.56), Elizabeth Stewart (16.09), and James Preedy (17.47), all swimming with the benefit of sunshine.

William White, in the first wave of the 1500m, set off with the dark clouds forming, but managed to finish in a time of 28.04, closely followed by Isobel Field (29.07).

Wave two began with a rumble of thunder, with Finlay Kirk first back in a time of 23.05, followed by Ben Olive (26.05) and Geraint White (30.16).

Wave three set off, but was abandoned due to the electric storm, swimmer Jasmine Hayward was brought back in a safety boat.

Finlay Kirk and Ben Olive both came third in their age group for Suffolk, an excellent achievement for the club.
